KCSNY 5K Run/Walk -

I'm running to increase awareness and raise funds for the incredible services that KCS provides.
KCS wasn't always a part of my life, but I wish it was. My family moved to New York from Uzbekistan in 2002. We had a very difficult and complicated immigration process that left us with little money and resources. Like most immigrant families, we struggled with legal services and a new language, emotional and mental sustainability, my parents with finding jobs and my sisters and I with getting adequate guidance with schooling, internships and college prep. Even though I grew up in a vibrant neighborhood of immigrants, as historically displaced Koreans lacking Korean culture and language, it was difficult for us to belong to the community. Learning about KCS made me realize just how much my family could have benefited from its services, and ultimately help us feel a sense of belonging. My goal is to let more families and displaced groups know about KCS and all of the work the organization does for its community. Walking through KCS' facility and seeing the care, love, and thought poured into the city's seniors, youths and families made my heart swell. Please join me in raising awareness and funds for an organization that can change people's lives!
